My
contacts are about 1 year old.
Why are my eyes irritated?
Old
contact lenses loose their ability to let oxygen through to
your cornea. Old lenses may develop deposits, scratches, nicks
and tears in the lens. There could be problems with your tears
lubricating the surface of your lens. People are different
concerning how long a lens will remain in good condition.
Having to replace lenses frequently is a good reason to consider
a disposable lens.
I've
switched contact lens solutions and now my eyes are red and
irritated. Why?
Your
new solution may be incompatable with you or your brand of
contact lenses. You may have developed an allergy to an ingredient
in the solution.
Can
I have my lenses shipped to me when I am out of town?
Yes.
Iowa Eye Center Optical can ship your lenses to an alternate
address.
Can
I change the color of my eyes with contact lenses?
Contact
lenses come in a wide variety of colors and enhancers. The
professionals at Iowa Eye Center Optical can guide you through
the many choices of colored lenses.
Why
is my eye red with contact lens wear?
The
development of red eyes is always a warning sign, but it could
be caused by a number of things, not limited to over-wear,
lens or solution allergy, infection, protein build-up, corneal
ulcers, dry eyes, and poorly fitting lenses. Eye redness should
never be ignored and your eyes should be examined to determine
the cause.
Are
all contact lenses the same?
Contact
lenses come in different materials--soft and rigid gas permeable.
Contact lenses also come in a wide range of powers, base
curves
and diameters. Each has its own specific design and characteristics
which affect the fitting and visual qualities.
